Good Luck Players!
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- Players are required to report to the age-specific tryout for their own age division. Players wishing to tryout for age divisions above their actual age-eligible division may do so, however their scores will not be accepted unless they are accompanied by a complete set of age-appropriate scores. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Teams and/or programs are not obligated to place Players in any other age division other than their age-appropriate division, these situations are evaluated on a per-player basis, and are subject to the rules and/or policies of the Program or Team. Message: Make Sure You Tryout In Your Own Age Division!
- Pre-Registered Players must report to the registration desk by the designated Check-In time. Walk-On Registrations will be accepted the day of the tryouts for each Age Division up to the Check-In Time listed for each age division below. There is a $10 additional Walk-On fee. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Note that the Tryouts have a maximum capacity of Players for each age division due to the floor size, number of evaluators, and the time allotted for each age division. As a result, we cannot guarantee that Walk-On Players will be granted a tryout. Message: Be Sure To Pre-Register!
- Tryouts for each age division will not start early. Players entering the surface after the start time of their age-specific tryouts will be permitted to enter the surface, however only during the Skills Evaluation Phase. After the Power Skating Phase of the tryout begins, no additional players will be added to the tryout. Note that Players will not necessarily be permitted to makeup the Skills Evaluation Scores, and an incomplete set of scores will be reported to the Team or Program. Message: Be There On Time!
- Players must complete the entire tryout for their age-specific division. Players not able to complete their tryout due to sickness or other reasons may be granted a make-up tryout depending upon the rules of the Program or Team of their preference. Partial scores may be accepted by a Team or Program, however this is at the discretion of the Team or Program of the Player's choice. Message: Complete the Tryout!
- Players in all age divisions must return to the facility on Sunday for the Game Situational Phase of the tryouts. The scores for Players not willing or able to return to the facility on Sunday may or may not be accepted by the Team or Program of their preference, and their request for a make-up tryout is subject to the rules or policies of the Team or Program of their choice. There is no guarantee that a Player will be granted a make-up tryout. Message: Make Sure You Attend Both Days!
- Players who have not registered or paid in full by the initial Check-In Date and Time for their age-appropriate tryout will not be permitted to tryout. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Message: Be sure you are Pre-Registered and Paid In Full!
-
Players are asked to register the Team or Program placement of their choice at the time of check-in. Players will be permitted to register a 1st, 2nd or 3rd preference. If a player registers no preference at all for any given Team or Program, their scores will not be delivered to that Team or Program. Message: Make sure you register preferences for all of the Teams or Programs you are willing or able to play for!
-
Parents are strongly advised to monitor Player's Choices relative to Team or Program placement. This is because we cannot necessarily change the preferences once the tryouts have completed, and teams have been selected. We also urge you to consider that these Programs and Teams conduct a majority of their practices at the facilities that are listed above, and therefore be sure that your preferences reflect your actual ability to commit to a full level of participation in that Team or Program, irrespective of your location. We will accept placement preferences from Players on the day of tryouts, but always prefer that a Parent confirm those choices. Message: We Prefer Placement Preference Info from Parents.
- Players are strongly advised not to come to the tryouts wearing last year's travel jerseys, or State Wars jerseys. Travel and State Wars jerseys are not permitted. Players may wear any other kind of jersey they like, including CCH league jerseys, their school team jerseys, or any other, but are strongly advise to choose something extremely light that breathes, as Players will be required to wear a mesh pinney over the top of their jerseys, for player identification purposes. The Player's jersey must cover the elbow pads, and Players will not be permitted to tryout unless they are properly equipped. Message: No Travel or State Wars jerseys, and dress light! See other preparation information below.
-
Parents and Players are advised that Central Carolina Hockey is only responsible for the tryout scoring. We do not provide advice of any kind as to the placement of any player on any given Team or Program, unless this advice is asked for. Once the tryouts are complete, the scores are delivered to the primary representatives associated with any given Team or Program, and Players are selected and notified by the Teams and Programs. Note that Teams or Programs may have selection criteria that go beyond qualitative or quantitative scores provided by CCH to the Teams or Programs. Message: Please direct all questions relating to notification, cuts and/or team placement to the Team(s) or Program(s) of the Player's preference.
-
Programs and/or Teams are responsible for the notification of Players. Teams cannot typically be finalized until all players have tried out. Note that some players request a makeup tryout, and these requests are granted to players depending upon whether the Program or Team of their preference allows this. Programs and Teams typically announce selections within a week of tryouts, but this can be longer. Results may be posted on the CCH website, however the timing and manner of notification for each Program or Team is different, please contact our office if you have questions.
- Parents or Players over the age of 18 are required to post a $100 Tryout Fee for their player. All but the actual per-player cost of the tryout ($35) will be provided to the Team or Program for which the Player is ultimately selected on behalf of the player, and these funds will be used to help the Team or Program begin their practice schedule. Parents of Players, or Players over the age of 18 who are not selected for any Team or Program within 45 days of the tryout date will be entitled to a refund of $65. Parents/Players may also apply this credit towards future participation in any CCH program or event. Note a successful placement is based upon the Player's team or program preferences which are registered at Check-In time. A placement with the team of their 3rd placement is considered a succesful placement, and refunds will not be available in this case. Message: Players will not be permitted to tryout unless the full Tryout Fee is posted. Only a total of $35 is 'at risk' with regards to any potential placement. Be sure your preferences reflect your actual willingness to participate.
- Interested in volunteering to Coach, or being a Team Manager? Want to help out with the organization and administration of the Team or Program of your Player's Choice? There will be a sign-up sheet provided at Check-In.
- As Parents and Players may be aware, the Dream Sports Center also offers their own facility-based Dragons Travel Inline Hockey program. Dream Sports will be running their tryouts on the same day as the CCH tryouts. Parents and Players are encouraged to gather as much information as they can about all of the available programs, but are specifically requested to not register for both tryouts. This greatly complicates the tryout and selection process, and is not fair to the other players. CCH and Dream Sports will be comparing registration lists. Players who have registered for the Dream Sports tryouts will not be permitted to participate in the CCH tryouts, unless we are able to verify with Dream Sports that extenuating circumstances exist. Message: Don't Register for both CCH's and Dream Sports tryouts. Think about It, but make up your mind ahead of time!
- Evaluations will be performed by FirstLine Hockey's profesional instructor staff, under the direction of CCH's Director of Hockey, Jake Plancon. Representatives of the Travel Programs and Teams will not be permitted to participate in the scoring. Players will receive scores in both quantitative (objective) and qualitative (opinion-based) categories. Based upon our agreement with the Teams and Programs, scores will not be released under any circumstances to Players by CCH, unless the Player is not selected by any Team or Program. We have done this before, and if you have tried out in our tryouts in past years, this should be a very familiar process to you.Message: Our tryout scoring process is fair, and as objective as we can make it. We've done this before!
- Players are cautioned to prepare properly. Players should hydrate (not too much!) prior to the Skills Evaluation phase of the first day. There will be a short water break between the Skills Evaluation Phase and the Power Skating phase of the tryouts. Bring water, we do not provide water on the bench. Players must be appropriately dressed in full equipment (see notes on jerseys above), and must have a mouthguard. Yes, even the 16's and 18's - this means YOU. Male players are strongly advised to wear a cup - especially on the second day, when it is extremely competitive in situational play. Players are cautioned to not just bring their favorite stick - bring an extra one too. Sticks and other equipment are often broken during practices. Make sure your stick is taped properly and legally. Check your bearings, wheels, laces, etc. Goalies must not be missing wheels. Goalie equipment must be within legal dimension requirements. Stick blades may not be cut-off, or curved to the extent where they are illegal. Message: Be Prepared.
