Northern 8U League: POLL RESULTS: Move to Wednesdays in Spring Season?

Greetings Northern 8U League Participants!

This poll is now closed, CCH HQ has declared an early winner!  (just kidding, you're going to hear plenty of that soon enough!)

We have ended this poll early, as it was clear based upon the results and e-Mailes we had received that there were a number of families who would be inconvenienced by this proposed move.  As a result, the JBW and CCH management teams have made a joint decision to leave the Northern 8U Recreational League on Mondays, at it's regularly scheduled 5:30 and 6:30p times.

Note that it is probable that when we begin our Fall Season, we will be moving this league to Wednesdays, and we wanted to let you know that well in advance so that you could plan accordingly.

We have resubmitted this poll for your consideration.  We made some errors in the original information, and some of you have have indicated that the poll was confusing. Overall, we have learned that creating a poll can be a tricky thing.  <wink>  We also want to clarify that this discussion is about the Spring Season (coming up), there are no changes being considered for the current (Winter) season.

Poll Choices (choose one):

1. Absolutely:  Wednesdays are actually better for us than Mondays!
2. Either Way:  We can participate on either day.
3. I'd Rather Not:  We could move to Wednesdays, but it is convenient.
4. Can't Do It:  If you moved the league to Wednesdays, we could not participate.

Why the poll?:

As you may be aware, we are in the process of looking at strategies to optimize our overall league schedules to:

1. Limit the number of different nights that folks have to play on
2. Reduce the number of conflicts with holidays, long weekends, etc.
3. Ensure we are finishing the season within the allotted 10 week timeframe
4. Limit the number of double-headers that teams face due to growth of league
   

In other words, this is really about your convenience.  The Northern 8U League especially suffers from item 2, above.  'Odd nights' are often created by long weekends, etc., and there are a few of these coming up (Memorial Day, Teacher WorkDay, etc.) in the Spring season.  This league is also likely to grow to 5 teams soon, judging from the number of participants in our Northern LTP program (41 this session).

Jellybeans of Wakefield has been kind enough to offer us a move of this league to Wednesdays in the Spring Season (early March start), with game times nominally at 5:30pm & 6:30pm.

If the league grows to 5 teams, we would have to look at a 2nd night (probably Sundays) as parents have informed us that a 4:30pm game is next to impossible, and 7:30pm games are too late for kids this age.

CCH thinks that the move to Wednesdays is probably a good thing for this league overall, but before we make the change and print the flyers, we'd like to get your opinion before we do it.  CCH and JBW do care what you think, and we want to make sure we are making a decision that is in the best long term interest of the majority of the families involved.
